John R. Lloyd Sr. began his insurance career in August of 1973 after graduating from the University of
Maryland at College Park with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Political Science. He
took a field adjuster position with Nationwide Insurance Companies and was assigned to the Salisbury
office to investigate automobile accidents as well as prepare physical damage estimates on the vehicles
involved. In November 1974, he was transferred to the Annapolis regional office in a move towards
claims management and primarily investigated bodily injury claims filed against Nationwide customers.
In May of 1975, he began his career in insurance sales and returned to Salisbury to open his agency as a
captive agent. In February of 1977 he became an independent contractor agent. During this time he
was awarded many sales awards, the highest being the President’s Conference Award in 1985.

In 2003, he realized that there was a need for independence after years of working in the ever changing
insurance industry. He then created Oceanside Insurance, after the purchase of two local independent
agencies which is now run by his daughter, Jennifer Lloyd Trader. In May of 2008 he made the decision
to sell the Nationwide Agency back to Nationwide and begin an early retirement. In May of 2009, he
returned to assist Jennifer in the commercial sales division and continues his career to this day.

Jennifer Lloyd Trader is the president of Oceanside Insurance. Prior to this she joined John R. Lloyd Inc.
in 2002 starting as an administrative assistant and marketing coordinator for John R. Lloyd Inc. She
obtained her license shortly after. It became top priority as a new face in the insurance industry to get
out and network with our community. In her early years in the business, she was very involved with the
Chamber of Commerce, was a past board member of Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore, a
Rotarian for several years, and successfully fundraised for the Wellness Community and Relay for Life.

Jennifer is an Eastern Shore native and received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Exercise
Science from Salisbury University. She and her husband live in Salisbury and have two young boys that
keep them busy and overjoyed. She loves to volunteer at their school and takes pride in the successful
opportunities she has to fundraise towards improving their quality of education. In her spare time she
loves spending time with her family and friends, beaching it, and staying physically active with her boys.
She has always thrived off of people and gains energy from interacting with others.

I started my insurance career back in the early 80s part time living in Pasadena, MD when my 2 children were young. My career then developed into full time in the later 80s. I received my P&C license in 1989 and started working as a full time agent for 2 years in Laurel, MD and then I went to GEBCO Insurance Associates from September 1991 until April 2016. My husband, Bruce, and I relocated to West Ocean City, MD in 2016. When I first moved to West Ocean City; and I found what I was looking for, which is with Jennifer Trader at Oceanside Underwriters, LTD. My hobbies are spending time with my grandchildren, family, my 2 dogs and the beach.
